Its the same thing every year, the tell tale signs that summer is drawing to a close, with ‘Summer Sale’ signs cropping up in the display windows, and bright colors slowly being replaced with autumnal shades. For many it is a depressing time, however for the most organized of us it is a chance to start stocking up for the autumn/winter season.
The key trends for autumn/winter will be in keeping with the bold theme running throughout the summer, with chunky chains, and choker necklaces. A darker, Gothic with Glamour, feel will be seen in costume jewellery. Rings with coloured over-size diamanté stones, heaped bangles, and cross themed necklaces will emerge as high street favorites.
As for seasonal colours, raspberry reds, burgundy, and cool blues will be popular, and these themes will be applied to both collection, and fashion jewellery.

The annual Yorkshire Show, which was visited by over 120,000 people this year, was the scene of a robbery, with which £100,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from a stall. The items are said to be gold, white gold, and platinum, and one of the pieces is encrusted with diamonds and said to be the only one of its kind.
Other items include a brooch depicting three horse heads, and a bracelet set with diamonds. A spokesman for the North Yorkshire Police said; “Anyone who is offered the items should contact the police”.
Apart from this the 150th Yorkshire Show has been hailed a success, with 40% more ticket sales than last year. There was even a visit from the queen on the last day to celebrate the shows anniversary.

The average cost of a wedding is rising. Recent serveys suggest that a standard wedding could cost as much as £16,000! This figure includes the venue, honeymoon, and wedding rings, of course, but another major expense is the cost of making sure the bride looks amazing on the big day. It is predicted that a staggering £1700 is budgeted for hair, makeup, and all the beautiful jewellery pieces you would expect a bride to wear; such as diamante rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and hair accessories. As your wedding day is supposed to be the best day of your life, its only natural to want to look perfect, after all you will hopefully only get one chance!

Tripadvisor.com has recommended the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham as one of Europe’s top ten free attractions.
Birmingham has a long history of jewellery-making, with its jewellery quarter dating back some 200 years. It is the home of one of the British assaying offices with an anchor symbol denoting precious metals that have passed through its doors.
We’d certainly like to visit!
