The largest colourless diamond to be auctioned in nearly 20 years is due to go under the hammer in Hong Kong. At over 100 carats it’s expected to bring in over $6 million. Only 3 similar diamonds have ever been sold, all in Geneva, making this a first for Christie’s in Hong Kong.
The ‘Fukang Pallasite‘, a meteorite discovered in the Gobi Desert 8 years ago, is to go under the hammer this month. Originally weighing over 1000kg, the specimen has been cut up over the years, with pieces selling for over £20 per gram.
The meteorite has a unique crystalline structure, making it exceptionally beautiful and collectable by enthusiasts. It’s expected that with a potential market value of over $17 million, the winning bidder will slice the meteorite down and sell it on in a limited supply.
Greek shipping heiress Christina Onassis amassed a stunning collection of jewellery, some of which is going under the hammer at Christie’s of London in June.
The collection, thought to bring in several million pounds, includes a 38 carat diamond and a rare Faberge Buddha.
